My Journey
My name is Daniela, I'm 22 years old, and on February 19th, 2023, I reverted to Islam and took my Shahada, Alhamdulillah.
My Journey to Islam began during my early high school years when I became friends with a Muslim girl in my year. I spent my lunch breaks sitting with her, her sister, and cousins, and they soon became some of my closest friends. Even though we eventually drifted apart after high school, I always remembered how kind, loving, and accepting they were toward me, even though I wasn't Muslim.
Fast forward to 2021, in the midst of COVID, I found myself volunteering with Brothers In Need, an organisation close to my heart that supports Brisbane's homeless community. One day, I was invited to a fundraiser BBQ during Ramadan at the Brisbane Islamic Centre that they had started to build. I decided to attend, and from that point on, you would find me there every weekend of Ramadan. I would stay until the early hours of the morning, talking to people from all walks of life, hearing about their stories and what Islam meant to them.
Although I wasn't Muslim and didn't wear a hijab, everyone was incredibly kind, welcoming, and curious about what brought me there. The warmth and compassion they showed me left a lasting impression.
In November 2022, I began reflecting deeply on my purpose in life. I felt there had to be more to this world than just paying bills and going through the motions. One night, I had a dream, and in it, I found the answer I was searching for: Islam.
This led me to seek out Islamic teachers, learn more about the faith, and understand its teachings about life and purpose.
On February 19th, 2023, I officially embraced Islam.
The Heart of Barakah
The idea for my business, Barakah, stems from my passion for charity, kindness, and making a difference. My mission is to "create a positive impact beyond the transaction." Through Barakah, I'm proud to support Brothers In Need-the organisation that played such a pivotal role in my journey to Islam-and other incredible charities that are making a difference to peoples lives. l truly believe that kindness leaves a lasting impact. The way you treat others, the compassion and sincerity you show, can resonate far beyond the moment. Kindness has the power to touch hearts, heal wounds, and plant seeds of hope and understanding. It might just be the reason someone starts to see the beauty in Islam, opening their heart to its teachings and way of life. Your kindness could be the bridge that connects them to a journey of faith and transformation.
